PARKING CITATION
THE ADMINISTRATIVE ADJUDICATION

ALL LOS ANGELES PARKING CITATIONS ARE NOT CONTESTED IN CRIMINAL
COURT. THEY ARE NOW CONSIDERED A CIVIL OFFENSE. TO FIGHT A PARKING TICKET
HERE IS THE PROCESS:
TO FIGHT THE CITATION:
You must request that the City do an
administrative review. This request is made in writing, or by telephone.
The request MUST be made within 21 days of the date of the citation or
within 10 days of the date of mailing of the notice of Delinquent Parking
Violation. You will be notified by mail of the outcome. If you parked
at a BROKEN meter and got ticketed.....call the number below.
IF YOU DISAGREE WITH THE OUTCOME:
Within 15 days of the mailing of the
results of the review, you can request a mail-in or in-person review by
a City examiner. The request MUST be accompanied by payment in full of
the fine, or appropriate proof of an inability to pay, which will be evaluated
by the department. You will be notified by mail of the results of the hearing.
IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS OF THE HEARING:
Within 20 days of the mailing of the
hearing examiner's decision, an appeal can be filed in Los Angeles Municipal
Court. The court requires a $25 filing fee for each case appealed.
If the court overrules the hearing examiner, you will be refunded the $25
filing fee and any part of the parking penalty that the court may order
refunded.
