PARKING CITATION
THE ADMINISTRATIVE ADJUDICATION PROGRAM OF LOS ANGELES

ALL LOS ANGELES PARKING CITATIONS ARE NOT CONTESTED IN CRIMINAL COURT. THEY ARE NOW CONSIDERED A CIVIL OFFENSE. TO FIGHT A PARKING TICKET HERE IS THE PROCESS:

TO PAY THE CITATION:
Payments may be mailed directly to the Parking Violations Bureau or made in person at any payment office. If you pay AFTER 30 days, you will assessed a penalty. Once a ticket is paid, it CANNOT be re-opened for any reason.

TO FIGHT THE CITATION:
You must request that the City do an administrative review. This request is made in writing, or by telephone. The request MUST be made within 21 days of the date of the citation or within 10 days of the date of mailing of the notice of Delinquent Parking Violation.  You will be notified by mail of the outcome. If you parked at a BROKEN meter and got ticketed.....call the number below.

IF YOU DISAGREE WITH THE OUTCOME:
Within 15 days of the mailing of the results of the review, you can request a mail-in or in-person review by a City examiner. The request MUST be accompanied by payment in full of the fine, or appropriate proof of an inability to pay, which will be evaluated by the department. You will be notified by mail of the results of the hearing.

IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS OF THE HEARING:
Within 20 days of the mailing of the hearing examiner's decision, an appeal can be filed in Los Angeles Municipal Court. The court requires a $25 filing fee for each case appealed.  If the court overrules the hearing examiner, you will be refunded the $25 filing fee and any part of the parking penalty that the court may order refunded.
